| Garçimuñoz
is a vocal and instrumental ensemble constituded by a group of
musicians who have joined themselves together for more than two decades
to perform and play Renaissance music. In 1992, the group was named
Conjunto Garçimuñoz in memory of the first Spanish city
founded in Costa Rica in 1561 in the Central Valley. Castillo de
Garçimuñoz was the base of
our nationality and spirit of simple and plain coexistence.
Members of Garçimuñoz have participated in seminars and master classes, both in the country and abroad . Its singers have also participated in choral festivals in Europe and the USA. The members of the vocal quartet are long experienced since they have participated in the National Symphony Choir, Coro de la Paz, and Music School Choir of the University of Costa Rica. The instrument performers have belonged to other ensembles
like Collegium Musicum of San José, Costa Rica, Capella Hispana
Antiqua of Costa Rica, Macalester Collegium Musicum, and Conjunto
Universitario de Música Antigua. They have performed at Salón Dorado of the
Costa Rican Art Museum, the National Theatre of Costa Rica and Centro
Nacional de las Artes (CENART) in Mexico City. Besides their
public concerts, they have offered educational recitals at the
University of Costa Rica, the Costa Rican Institute of Technology and
different educational centers. Garçimuñoz es una agrupación vocal e instrumental constituida por músicos que en su mayoría por tres décadas se han dedicado a interpretar música del Renacimiento. En 1991, se llamó al grupo "Garçimuñoz" en memoria de la primer ciudad española fundada en Costa Rica en 1561 en el Valle Central. Castillo de Garçimuñoz fue la base de nuestra nacionalidad de espíritu noble y sencillo. Los miembros de Garçimuñoz han participado en
seminario y clases maestras, tanto en el país como en el
extranjero. Sus cantantes han participado en festivales corales en
Europa y EEUU. Sus instrumentistas han pertenecido a grupos como el
Collegium Musicum de San José, Costa Rica, Capella Hispana
Antiqua de Costa Rica, Macalester Collegium Musicum, y el Conjunto
Universitario de Música Antigua. Se han presentado en el Salón Dorado del Museo de
Arte Costarricense, el Teatro Nacional, y el Centro Nacional de las
Artes de la Ciudad de México, entre otros. Además de
éstos, también ofrecen conciertos didácticos en la
Universidad de Costa Rica, el Instituto Tecnológico de Costa
Rica, y diversos centros educativos.
